born in Cremona in 1975, Locatelli studied under Massimo Negroni, Stefano Conia, and Giorgio Scolari at the Scuola di Liuteria di Cremona. After graduating in 1995, he set out to master the construction of a wide range of classical instruments, including guitars, harps, and and organs.
Locatelli’s instruments adhere often to the traditions of Stradivari. He works to pursue traditional Cremonese methods in the modern landscape of classical music. Locatelli has had such success in imitating the models of Stradivari that his work is acclaimed internationally, by renowned musicians and teachers alike.
